Bear Awakening is a three-day, uplifting, high energy retreat especially designed for and run by college students. The retreat will start on a Friday afternoon and end in the late afternoon on a Sunday. The location of the retreat varies from semester to semester. The retreat, often nicknamed "BA", revolves around a series of talks such as What is a Christian?, Reconciliation, Faith, Prayer, Love, and a Vocations Panel.
During the retreat, we separate into small groups facilitated by two staffers, which forms a small community to discuss the talks and participate in shared activities. There is plenty of music, fun, time for prayer, and opportunities for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.
Beyond this, it is impossible to describe Bear Awakening to you--it must be experienced!!! The retreat exceeds almost everyone's expectations. The experience can and often has been a turning point in many people's lives. Plus, the weekend retreat is only part of the Awakening program. The next step is "Fourth Day", weekly follow-up gatherings for people who have made an Awakening. These meetings are a very special time for fellowship, prayer, and support of one another's Christian journey.
